Book Recommendations for Fueling Well

The holidays are around the corner! If you are looking for some reading material to add to your Christmas wishlist, read through this list of books that I recommend.

Intuitive Eating by Evelyn Tribole & Elyse Resch
I would put this one on everyone's reading list! Evelyn Tribole & Elyse Resch developed 10 evidence-based principles of Intuitive Eating, which is a non-diet approach to eating (no food rules!). Intuitive eating can be used by athletes. It helps athletes to disconnect from diet culture, listen and respond to their bodies' needs, forget about calorie counting and the scale, and move toward food freedom and body respect.

Body Kindness by Rebecca Scritchfield
Rebecca provides guidance for treating your body with compassion and respect, rather than shame. The graphics in this book are beautiful!

Gentle Nutrition by Rachael Hartley
This new book zooms in on the final principle of Intuitive Eating - Gentle Nutrition. Rachael explains why eating healthfully is about the big picture rather than overanalyzing each and every food choice. She provides practical tips for building satisfying meals and snacks, meal planning, and developing your own personal definition of health. The book includes more than 50 recipes with beautiful food photography.

Unapologetic Eating by Alissa Rumsey
This book focuses on making peace with food, respecting your body, and experiencing food freedom.

More Than a Body by Lindsay & Lexie Kite
Practical tips to make peace with your body - learning to see that your body IS good, regardless of size or shape.

No Period, Now What by Nicola Rinaldi
Missing periods are very common among female athletes, but this is not NORMAL or HEALTHY. Dr. Rinaldi discusses the many physiological reasons why this may occur, and provides a recovery plan to regain your period for overall health & fertility reasons. Female athletes will not be as strong or durable when they are missing their cycles. It's time to change the dialogue around this topic!

Run Fast, Eat Slow by Shalane Flanagan & Elyse Kopecky
Delicious recipes for runners! The authors don't shy away from using delicious ingredients to create dishes that both nourish and satisfy.
